Irish Music Festival in Connemara 🪕
Clifden Traditional Music Festival is a weekend of the very best of Irish music, song and dance with concerts, sessions, workshops and outdoor entertainment.
The 15th Annual Clifden Traditional Music Festival is expected to take place in early April 2025 in Clifden, Connemara, Co. Galway with details to be confirmed closer to the time.
Highlights of Clifden Tradfest 2025
Below is an indication of activities during the festival but all have yet to be confirmed.
The Festival is expected to begin on Thursday with a Seisiun na nOg in the Atlantic Hotel.
Friday will start early with Scoil Mhuire Marching Band performing on the town square at 11.30am. Also on the Friday, the Official Opening and Concert will take place in the Clifden Station House Theatre at 7pm. The event will feature a host of artists from all over Ireland as well as lots of local talent.
Saturday will begin with music workshops in Fiddle, Button Accordion and Concertina with top class tutors to be announced. Both intermediate and advanced students will be catered for.
Music Sessions are a very big part of the festival and again this year will feature a host of champion musicians from all over Ireland.
All Ireland Champions The Blackwater Céilí Band are expected be Live on the Gig Rig on Saturday Night.
Other musicians expected at the festival include: Liz Gaughan (Fiddle) and Brendan Quinn (Flute) from Tipperary, Anthony Kavanagh(Banjo), George McAdam (Banjo) from Monaghan, Michael Curran(Tyrone) on accordion, Paul Clesham on Piano, Liz and Yvonne Kane (Fiddles), Cian Kearins (Flute), Niamh O Sullivan (Concertina), Maura Walsh from Kerry on Concertina, Caoimhe Kearins on Fiddle from Sligo and many more musicians. All are most welcome to take part in the sessions over the weekend.
The pub sessions will take place throughout the weekend and all details will be given in the brochure which will be released closer to the festival.
A big highlight of the festival this year will be again the outdoor gig on the street on Saturday night. Expect lively entertainment from a well-known group who will be joined by a host of dancers and guest artists.

On the Saturday of the festival, don’t miss the Clifden Trad Fest 5K Run which will leave from the town centre at 2.30pm on the Saturday of the festival. Street Entertainment and music and song on the Gig Rig from 3pm and a busking competition will also take place on the Saturday of the Trad Fest from 1.30pm all around the town.
