Where can you wild camp in Galway?
Wild Camping: Code of conduct
Wild camping throughout Galway is not strictly legal and is tolerated in many upland and remote areas provided care to leave no trace is taken. Wild camping in Galway requires adherence to specific guidelines to protect the environment and local community. Campsites must be at least 400 metres from roads and buildings. Tents should be moved every two nights to allow vegetation recovery. All food waste and litter must be removed, as buried waste can be exposed by animals or erosion. Soap and toothpaste should be kept 30 metres from watercourses, and dishwashing must be conducted similarly, with strained wastewater scattered. Campers should remain quiet, keep campsites unobtrusive, and leave sites as they found them, or in better condition.
