FAQs about Ballynahinch Castle

Do I have to be a guest to eat at the pub?

No, the Fisherman’s Pub is open to non-residents for lunch and dinner. It is very popular, especially on weekends, so arriving early is recommended as they often operate on a walk-in basis.

Can I learn to fish if I’ve never tried it?

Yes! Ballynahinch offers expert fly-fishing tuition. You can book a session with a gillie who will provide all the gear and teach you the basics of casting on the riverbanks.

Is the hotel dog-friendly?

While the hotel building itself is generally pet-free (except for service animals), they do have specific kennel facilities on-site, and the extensive grounds are perfect for walking your dog.

Explore Connemara

On the estate, explore over 10 miles of walking trails, try your hand at fly fishing or cycle the new Connemara Greenway or relax in Woodland Saunas overlooking the lake. Locally, explore the fishing villages and beaches or hike Errisbeg and Diamond Hill or the more challenging Twelve Bens. Our expert guides are available to accompany you on one of these stunning hikes. Enjoy a picnic in the walled garden or further afield as you explore the wider area. Picnics are available for guests and
non-residents.

Of course, for many, simply strolling around the walled garden or reading a book by an open log fire is the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Ballynahinch Castle is the perfect choice for exploring Connemara.
