The city has numerous pubs and bars as well as a few nightclubs along with some of the finest theatres and comedy clubs in the country. The possibilities are endless, from a quiet night out with friends with traditional Irish music and storytelling, or a night out dancing to the early hours. Galway has a young population and twentysomething visitors will see that the city will not be found wanting for lively nightspots. The city's nightlife thrives on it's student population midweek and at weekends the students are largely replaced by locals, and parties of revellers from all around the country and further afield.
The motto of 37 West is “Healthy is the New Sexy” which is proving to be a successful offering for this restaurant situated opposite the entrance to Galway University. This reasonably priced restaurant has made a number of promises on what customers can expect of their food.<br/><br/> They promise to never serve pasta with tomato sauce out of a jar, to use as many yummy veggies as they can get their hands on and to flexible with dishes to make them vegetarian friendly. They promise to make their own Gluten Free bread and source freshly prepared Gluten Free Cakes. <br/><br/> In general they promise to make your belly so excited with their healthy foods and make you feel you are not missing out. <br/><br/> Shortly after opening, 37 West in Newcastle ihas quickly established itself as the place to eat for breakfast, brunch, lunch or just to grab a coffee and a tasty healthy treat. The brainchild of business woman Gill Carroll, 37 west was born out a vision and dream of a woman who had worked in hospitality and retail for over 10 years but wanted to forge her own path and express her personality through healthy food.

56 Central is a new sister restaurant to the very popular 37 West restaurant in Newcastle. Opened in May 2015, 56 Central offers a wonderful dining experience in one of the best and most 'central' locations in Galway City.

An Púcán, one of Galway's oldest traditional pubs has recently undergone a complete refurbishment. Keeping in line with its tradition of trad music An Púcán now offers live music daily - with trad and folk music at the front afternoon and early evening and with local music acts and and djs in the back for some late night dancing at the weekend. An Púcán offers over 150 remarkable whiskeys, along with craft beers and boutique wines. A full extensive food menu on offer until 8pm each evening.

An Tobar Nua is an Irish and American café and coffee shop in a great location, one street away from the historic Claddagh and overlooking the canal in Galway City's popular West end. The delightful ambience inside the café is complemented by the original stonework, beautiful seating facing the water and reflective quiet in the atrium. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout. Visitors can also choose something hot off the grill such as hotdogs, burgers and 'Tex Mex' favourites. It also offers great value meal deals.<br/><br/> A full range of hot & iced coffees, teas, sodas, speciality drinks and more provide refreshment any time of the day! An Tobar Nua's superb customer service is a highlight and the friendly staff members are always welcoming and ready to chat. The hospitable atmosphere has made it a local favourite among adults, students and tourists alike. Stop in for a cuppa and a chat!
