Galway Jazz Festival 2023

6 - 8 Oct, 2023 (tbc), Galway Events Calendar

About the annual Jazz Festival

The Galway Jazz Festival is yet to be confirmed but is hoped to return for its 17th year in 2023, staying true to its aims to continue its strong theme of sustainability again this year. Previously the festival programme (printed on recycled paper, using 100% vegetable oil-based ink) includes a loose sheet of seeds for festival-goers to plant at home, with a mix of seeds named by the festival: Daisy Gillespie, Dandelionel Hampton and Dearie Blossom.

The festival presents a 3 day festival of leading local, national and international jazz artists in a wide range of venues, in Galway City. Annually, the aim is to foster jazz as a contemporary art form in the West.

The Galway Jazz Festival usually runs from Friday to Sunday over the first weekend in October, and features musicians from 14 countries, playing more than 50 events, across 20 different venues in the city.

As well as evening concerts, the GJF will host lunchtime gigs, ‘pocket-sized’ performances, a film screening, a jazz shop and panel discussions.

The three-day Festival will feature some of the leading names in jazz and improvisation, as well as talks and film screenings.
