We are strategically located in Galway, in the heart of the West of Ireland. Therefore, we have a wealth of knowledge regarding cycling in Connemara, South Mayo, The Burren and The Aran Islands.

West Galway School of Navigation is an all-year-round Sailing and Navigation School. During the summer they offer speed boat rides with a chance of seeing seals, dolphins and other wildlife in their vessel named 'Mollymawk' which is a Department of the Marine approved 5 person passenger vessel. The school is based in Ballyconneely but they run in various other venues. Telephone in advance for details of where and when the rides are operating. Training in sailing and shore-based activities also available.

The Rat Race Urban Adventure Galway is the hottest event to test your limits of fitness, nerves, teamwork and stamina. The Shannon estuary is home to Ireland’s only resident group of bottlenose dolphins. Over 100 dolphins have been identified using the estuary at different times; calves are born each year and are usually encountered in the groups observed. Cruises depart from the Kilrush marina on board the new vessel “Dolphin Discovery”. The trip takes about 2 hours, passing the islands of Hog and Scattery on the quest to locate the dolphins which are successfully seen on over 98% of the trips.

Kilrush and Carrigaholt are the main access locations for those who wish to view the large group of bottlenose dolphins that reside in the Shannon Estuary. This school of breeding dolphins is unique to Ireland and is the most accessible group of dolphins in Europe. Dolphins are curious, playful, unpredictable animals, whose charming antics are bound to amaze and delight you. Derroura Mountain Bike Trail Network, over 16 kms in length, lies at the gateway to Connemara. The trails here will offer you massive views north into the Maam valley and westwards to the Twelve Pins. Derroura offers you some incredible mountain biking in some of the most spectacular scenery in Connemara. You will face long climbs and thrilling descents with great views overlooking the entire of Lough Corrib from the halfway point of the trails.
