Spirit of Voice Festival 2009

The
Spirit of Voice Festival returns to Galway in 2009. From 6th - 8th November the international festival of voices for the 6th time will host 3 days of concerts, workshops and vocal projects bringing people together again.
Spirit of Voice focuses on world voice styles and international singers and spoken word artists working together in the same arena. To stage events that unites language and cultural songs, describing audibly the traditional vocal core that is derivative within music. Please applaud the human voice!
The Spirit of Voice welcomes again International Opera, Hip Hop Rap, Barbershop, Choirs, Sean Nos Overtone Slam and all styles vocal. Irish artists on the stage will join international diverse music backgrounds from Jamaica, India, Africa, Germany, Poland and England, bringing a piece of World music to everybody.
Featuring in Concert will be legendary Linton Kwesi Johnson Jamaica's finest dub poet, plus UK's leading Operatic Tenor Martin Toal who will sing his Celtic Aria show in concert and workshop, Highly rated Dublin jazz pop group Carosel, who recently featured on Rte's Late show and at Oxygen festival. Limeric band Size2shoes with Eoin and Moley Ó Súilleabháin who play music from the latest Cd, and host a beatbox workshop Sons of musical maestro Michael Ó Súilleabháin, they will perform with the Big Sing choir so the show will be definitely sophisticated.
Other artists including Bangladeshi band Rong, slam poet Marty Mulligan, Traditional singers Orlaith Ni Mheachair and Kayla Mcdonagh, Folk group The Lantanas plus the chariots and songs from a Celtic Gathering.
The launch takes place on Friday November the 6th at the Cellar Bar, Saturday the 7th sees gigs at Kelly’s and the Crane bar, and on Sunday 8th shows at St Nicholas Collegiate Church and the Western hotel. There is something for everybody with high quality entertainment at attractive admission price provided. Concerts will be taking place in a following places: Cellar Bat Eglinton St, Kellys Venue Bridge St, St. Nicholas Collegiate Church, The Crane Bar Sea Road, Aras na nGael Dominic Street, The Western Hotel Prospect Hill, Java’s French Bistro and Wine bar Upper Abbeygate St., Galway.
