Trad on the Prom

Trad on the Prom GalwayThe famous Trad on the Prom show, celebrating Irish culture at its very best returns from May to September 2010 for its 6th successive season to the modernised Salthill Hotel, which overlookes Galway Bay. Losing none of it's original energy and flair, this year's production continues to enthrall the audience with world class performances of Irish music, song and dance, leading to the critics branding it as 'the best Irish show of the year'.

The show is a wonderful showcase of Irish traditional music and dance and is suitable for all nationalities and ages. It features the amazing talents of Máirín Fahy on fiddle and vocals. Máirín was previously the featured soloist with both Riverdance and The Chieftains.

She is joined on stage by Chris Kelly and her world-class band featuring multi- instrumentalist Yvonne Fahy on accordion and bodhrán (Irish hand drum) and the haunting music of the uileann pipes performed by Gerard Fahy, musical director of ‘Lord of the Dance’.

The show also features an array of World Champion Irish Dancers lead by Cian Nolan (Lord of the Dance), Clare Greaney, The Keaney Brothers, Mary McDonagh and Rachael Keaney.

Singers include Eurovision star Marc Roberts, Sean Costello and Chieftains vocalist Yvonne McMahon.

Marc Roberts came to world wide notice when he respresented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest. He is now one of Ireland’s leading song writers and has released three highly acclaimed solo albums. He co-writes with a host of well know artists such as Brian Kennedy, Daniel O’Donnell and Nashville legend Rodney Crowell.

Sean Costello is a native of Ballinrobe, county Mayo, Sean won the national AIMS Award for ‘Best Voice’ no fewer than six times. He is a regular soloist in the National Concert Hall, Dublin. Most recently he played the part of King Cormac in the highly acclaimed production of ‘Tara’ in the prestigious Luxor Theater, Rotterdam.

Dublin born Yvonne McMahon comes from a well reknowned musical family and has been the vocalist with Irish supergroup ‘The Chieftains’ for the last eight years. She also heads the highly successful production company Mabinog Ltd.
