Oranmore in Galway: All you need to know
The village of Oranmore, just minutes from Galway City, nestles on the edge of Galway Bay, between the Burren, famous for its wonderful flora, and stunning Connemara. Oranmore, dominated by a splendid 12th century castle, is the gateway to Ireland’s South West. It is a perfect spot from which to visit the Burren, Connemara, the Aran Islands, Galway City, and the Corrib and Lough Mask water systems. It is situated about 6 miles east of Galway city with a population of approximately 8,000 people.
Things to do in Oranmore
Oranmore has a variety of amenities including great shops, restaurants, and pubs. Oranmore’s olde worlde pubs are renowned for their impromptu music and dance sessions. Some of Galway’s best parks and recreational areas are close to the town, in particular Rinville Park, just outside the village which is an ideal family destination with Galway Bay Sailing Club and the superb Galway Bay Golf Resort is nearby too. Oranmore is a lively town, with lots to offer.

How to get to Oranmore, Co. Galway
BUS: Travel by bus on Bus Eireann Route 404 or with Citylink.ie on their Galway to Oranmore service. Oranmore is a satellite town of Galway City, so has regular bus services every day.
TRAIN: Oranmore train station is a 5 minute walk from Oranmore village. The station is a stop on the Dublin to Galway service and also the Galway to Athenry/Athlone and Galway to Limerick Commuter services. The journey takes about 10 minutes to travel by train from Oranmore to Galway City Centre (Ceannt Station). There is plenty of bike stands and car parking at Oranmore station. CAR: Alternatively travel by car from Galway taking the N6 and N67 road west from Galway City. Journey time varies between 15mins off peak to 45 mins a peak times.
