Gaelforce Connemara Adventure Challenge
Adventure Race in Connemara
It is hoped the Gaelforce Connemara Adventure Challenge will return in 2024 after a hiatus in 2023.
In previous years the race took the format of Gaelforce West with 3 disciplines; trail/mountain running (walking and jogging also accepted!), Kayaking and cycling.
The Connemara Adventure Challenge is almost half the distances of Gaelforce West at approx 32.5km in total and it is open to racers of all levels. If you’re not quite sure whether you are up to the level of completing Gaelforce West, the Connemara Adventure Challenge is a great way of testing yourself and your ability!
The event is run by Killary Adventure Co. and will be based at the companies accommodation base K2 which sits on the shores of Killary Fjord in Connemara, Co. Galway. This area of the country is stunning, rugged and provides the perfect playground for an adventure race. Below is an outline of what each stage of the challenge involves.
Stage 1: Bog Run | 4km | ||
Stage 2: Mountain Climb | 1km | ||
Stage 3: Cycle | 17km | ||
Stage 4: Kayak | 2km | ||
Stage 5: Run/Walk | 7km |
