Connemara Western Way Walking Marathon ⛰️

Calling all walkers! This year, explore the stunning landscapes of Connemara in the Galway Walking Marathon, taking place on Saturday, August 10th, 2024.

The route winds its way from Killary to Maam Valley, following the scenic Western Way. Don’t worry about scaling peaks – this is primarily a flat walk, with the highest point being a manageable 259 meters at Maumean. While a third of the journey utilizes minor roads, most of the path consists of green roads and forest tracks, offering a delightful immersion in nature.

Throughout the walk, be mesmerized by spectacular views of Killary Fjord, the Maumturks mountain range, and the Twelve Bens. It’s a truly terrific way to experience the raw beauty of Connemara.

• Meeting Point: Maam Community Centre, Teernakill North, Co. Galway (H91 W635)
• Start Times: Full Marathon – 7:30 am (Bus departure – 8:00 am) / Half Marathon – 8:45 am (Bus departure – 9:30 am)
• Open to: Everyone
• Price: €40 per person (includes a post-walk meal)
• Registration: Pre-registration is mandatory.
