Galway City Ice Skating is expected to return (tbc) for the festive season from mid-Nov 2026 to early Jan 2027, bringing the magic of ice skating to the Salthill seafront in Galway. This fun event will be a highlight of the holiday season, offering excitement for everyone, from seasoned skaters to beginners. With twinkling lights, festive music, and the joy of gliding on real ice, it’s the perfect way to create lasting Christmas memories with friends and family.

Skaters can choose from six time slots on weekdays and 11 on weekends, with each session lasting 45 minutes. Whether you’re planning a family day out or a romantic evening skate, Galway City on Ice has something for everyone. Tickets are currently on sale, with a special pre-launch price of just €14.95 available for a limited time. Afterward, adult tickets will cost €19 and child tickets €17, plus fees (note: prices to be confirmed closer to the event).

School Sessions 🚌
For schools, morning sessions are usually available, with great rates for groups of 30 or more. Transition year groups, in particular, will love the opportunity to enjoy a festive break on the ice.
To get the most out of your skating experience, be sure to dress warmly and bring an extra pair of socks. While spectators don’t need to pay to enter the Ice Marquee, space is limited, so priority will be given to those accompanying children. There’s also a range of delicious food and drinks available nearby to warm up after your skate.
Visitors will see Leisureland in Salthill transformed into one of Ireland’s premier Christmas attractions with one 600m squared enclosed ice rink with real ice and a festive market to enjoy. This seasonal event will provide fun for all the family.
Situated in along the promenade overlooking Galway Bay the ice rink is located beside Leisureland with ample on site parking for all.
