FAQs about Atlantic Scuba Adventures
Will I see much marine life in Ireland?
Absolutely! Temperate water diving is incredibly rich. You can expect to see lobster, crabs, conger eels, schools of pollock, colorful wrasse, and if you’re lucky, inquisitive seals or rare nudibranchs.
I’ve never dived before; can I try it?
Yes! The PADI Discover Scuba Diving program is designed for beginners. Under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional, you’ll learn basic safety guidelines and skills before heading out for a shallow dive.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
You should be comfortable in the water and able to swim. For the full Open Water certification, you must be able to swim 200m (any style) and float/tread water for 10 minutes.
Tip: If you’re a certified diver visiting Galway, ask about the “Coral Beach” (Carraroe) shore dive. It is one of the most unique dive sites in Ireland, with its white maerl “coral” and incredibly clear water. For beginners, the PADI eLearning option is a game-changer—get the “boring” homework done before you arrive so you can focus on the fun Atlantic fish!
