Clare Island Lighthouse
Cliff-Top Sanctuary & Historic Landmark 🕯️🌊
Clare Island Lighthouse, a prestigious member of Ireland’s Blue Book, is a world-class boutique retreat perched 340 feet above the Atlantic on the northern tip of Clare Island (F28 X073). Originally built in 1806 and decommissioned in 1965, this architecturally unique landmark is the only two-towered lighthouse in Ireland.

Expertly restored into luxury accommodation, it offers a “great escape” where guests can trade the bustle of the mainland for communal dining, turf fires, and panoramic 360° views of Clew Bay, Achill Island, and the rugged Mayo coastline. The interiors are sleek yet cozy, featuring period fixtures, original flagstone floors, and a restorative atmosphere without the distraction of televisions. Whether you are staying in the original tower or the wellness-focused Sauna Suite, a stay here is an immersive maritime experience defined by high-end hospitality and the unhurried pace of island life.
