Galway Airport
Airport 7km from Galway City Centre
Galway Airport, located at Carnmore just 7km east of Galway City, no longer operates commercial passenger flights. Once a bustling regional hub, the airport saw its final scheduled service on 31 October 2011 when Aer Arann ceased operations. At its peak, Galway Airport served over 300,000 passengers annually across 16 destinations. However, its 1,289-metre (4,230 ft) runway limited operations to smaller turboprop aircraft and executive jets, as it is too short for most jet airliners.

Managed by Corrib Airport Limited, the airport today is used for private aviation, training, and various non-commercial activities. While no longer a gateway for commercial travel, Galway Airport remains a notable facility in the region’s aviation landscape.
