Africa comes to Galway City this May as Africa Day 2027 celebrates the people, cultures and potential of the continent and the African communities who call Galway home. Expected to take place on Saturday, May 22, the free family-friendly festival at Salthill Park will feature live music, traditional and contemporary dance, African cuisine, fashion showcases and art exhibitions. Mayor Mike Cubbard praised Galway’s diversity and multicultural spirit, while Cllr Helen Ogbu highlighted the importance of visibility, belonging and representation.
