Connemara 100: What to expect 🏅
Are you ready to be amazed? The Connemara 100 is one of Ireland’s most breathtaking and challenging ultramarathon events. Taking place on the weekend of August 16, 2025, this 100-mile (160.95 km) endurance race follows a measured and certified AAI-permitted course through the rugged and scenic landscapes of Connemara, Galway.
Starting and finishing in Clifden, the route takes runners through Letterfrack, Leitirgeish, the Inagh Valley, Maam Cross, Leenane, and back through the valley once more. From there, it continues to Roundstone, Ballyconeely, and finally returns to Clifden — completing an epic loop of 160,934 metres (or 528,000 feet) through wild beauty.
With only 20+ participants and a strict 30-hour cutoff time, the race demands not only physical stamina but mental resilience. Each runner must have a dedicated crew to provide essential support such as food, hydration, and morale throughout the journey.
This isn’t just a race — it’s a full-body adventure and an unforgettable experience in a spectacular setting. The supportive Connemara community and stunning course make the Connemara 100 a truly unique event on the global ultramarathon calendar.
