Glendeer Pet Farm is a six-acre open farm in the heart of the midlands run by the O’Connell family. An additional six acres has opened recently with a nature walk through fields and along historic paths.

Glendeer Pet Farm is a premier 12-acre family destination located in Curryroe, just 10 minutes west of Athlone (N37 HY39). This award-winning open farm offers an immersive “hands-on” experience where children and adults can interact with over 50 species of domestic and exotic animals. From bottle-feeding lambs and petting cuddly puppies to meeting meerkats, monkeys, and wallabies, the farm is designed to be both educational and high-energy. Beyond the animals, visitors can lose themselves in a large timber maze, race on the double obstacle course, or explore the magical Fairy Trail and Hobbit Village. With extensive indoor play areas and a restored 1850s cottage, Glendeer ensures a full day of country fun regardless of the unpredictable Irish weather.

It can be a great way for children who live in towns and cities to experience farm animals close up. A wide range of animals live on the farm, from goats, cows and sheep to the more exotic emus, llamas, alpacas, wallabies and monkeys. Children can feed the larger animals, and see pheasants, turkeys, ducks, geese and hens roaming freely in the farmyard.

What are the ticket prices for 2025?

General admission is €10 per person (adults and children), with children under 18 months entering for free. Family tickets for 5 people are available for €47, with additional children charged at €7 each. Season tickets are also available for €50.

Are there indoor facilities if it rains?

Yes, the farm is well-equipped for wet days. There is a large indoor “Skywalk” adventure play area, a soft play barn for toddlers, an indoor sandpit with diggers, and a coffee shop. Many of the petting areas are also undercover.

Can we bring our own picnic?

Absolutely. There are both indoor and outdoor picnic areas provided for visitors. The on-site coffee shop also sells light lunches, fresh coffee, and homemade treats if you prefer to buy food on-site.
