galway food festivalThe Galway Food Festival will be held over the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend from Thursday 29th March to Monday 02 April 2018.

Enjoy 5 days of exceptional food and loads of free events suitable for all the family. The festival celebrates Galway as a good food destination with a strong focus on artisan, seasonal and local produce. 

The 2018 event will include an extended food village on the banks of the Corrib, open-air markets, restaurant trails, cookery demonstrations, food tours to local artisan producers, foraging trips, food talks, tastings, wine and beer workshops, a meet the producers forum, lots of local produce, kids activities and family fun days. A new element of the festival will be the exploration of international diversity and global character of Galway food and celebrate the Galway Food Diaspora. Over 75 restaurants, food outlets and food producers will participate and most events will again be free-admission, all will be family friendly and many will have a strong 'Galway' flavour.

Galway’s unique and thriving dining scene will proudly present a host of culinary events across the City, exploring the traditions, products and dishes that have evolved over the years. A city once dominated by the 14 Tribes, Galway is now home to an array of over 43 nationalities, each offering a new assortment to the dynamic and multicultural culinary melting pot.

Each theme will be speckled across the city, with an array of events that will celebrate the diversity of Irish food. A host of Ireland’s top chefs and food producers will present a series of events, exploring the rich tapestry of Ireland’s food movement.

From active discussions in the Druid Lane Theatre to live cookery demonstrations at the Food Festival Village; the city will be transformed into a veritable gourmand’s paradise with numerous artisan food and craft markets, cookery demonstrations, city food tours, movies, taste trails and a host of dining events in local hotels, restaurants, cafés and bars.

More than 70,000 people attended last year’s Galway Food Festival with over 100 food outlets and producers from across the city and county taking part. Watch Galway showcase its diverse and ever-evolving food movement as the Festival celebrates ten decades of Irish Food.
