Traditional Irish music lovers are in for a treat this May as the Galway County Fleadh 2026 makes Galway (locaation and date to be confirmed). This special edition of Fleadh Cheoil na Gaillimhe promises a vibrant weekend full of competition, culture, and ceol.

The festivities kick off on Friday evening at 8pm with the Official Opening Ceremony. Attendees can expect a warm welcome and the beginning of a weekend steeped in traditional music. Following the ceremony, the first of many music sessions will take place setting the tone for an exhilarating few days.

Competitions commence on Saturday when musicians from across the county—many of them young and eager—will compete for a coveted place in the Connacht Fleadh 2027, which is scheduled for July. With record numbers of entries expected, the atmosphere promises to be one of friendly rivalry and immense talent.

Sunday will showcase some of the Fleadh’s top talent, with competitions for the Under 18 and Over 18 categories, as well as traditional dancing. A significant focus will be on the Grupaí Cheoil and Ceilí Band competitions, both of which are expected to draw large crowds and strong representation from all 18 Comhaltas branches across County Galway.

The competitions are open to the public, and organisers encourage locals and visitors alike to come out and witness the incredible musical ability that Galway has to offer. The Fleadh weekend concludes in style with final music sessions on Sunday,
