Kayaking competition in Galway 🛶
Galway Fest is one of Europe’s largest kayaking events, and now in its 14th year, runs from 5th to 7th March 2027 and is expected to be one of the best to date.
The programme of events is yet to be confirmed but Galway Fest is expected to kick-off in Tuam for the Friday Freestyle event. See Irish and international kayakers put down some of the biggest freestyle kayaking rides at one of Europe’s top Freestyle Kayaking spots under floodlights.
Saturday’s event is expected to take places on the Boluisce River in the coastal town of An Spidéal, Co. Galway. Enjoy the excitement watching kayakers speeding down river trying not to loose a moment while crashing down the rapids with the biggest smiles on their faces whether they’re upright or upside down as they reach the finish line.

The penultimate event on the Sunday sees the event move to the River Corrib flowing through the centre of Galway city, with the Mass Slalom/8 Ball Start race in the morning. With the beautiful backdrop of Galway, this challenging course for even the most experienced kayakers will see them struggle on this unpredictable course. With great vantage points for spectators along the river the atmosphere will be electric.
