What is Irish Dancing
Irish dancing is a traditional dance form that has its roots in Ireland. It is distinguished by its vigorous and rhythmic motions, which are carried out to Irish trad music. Irish dancing has gained popularity all over the world, in part because of popular shows like Riverdance and Lord of the Dance that served to showcase the art form.

Irish dancing comes in a variety of forms, but the two most popular are step dancing and ceili dancing. Step dancing is a solo performance that is distinguished by its complex footwork. To produce a percussive sound, dancers generally wear hard shoes. Contrarily, ceili dancing is a style of group dance that is typically done by groups of four, six, or eight dancers. It is distinguished by its brisk, cheerful beat and frequently features couples holding hands and dancing in unison.
The custom also places a lot of emphasis on the outfits worn for Irish dancing. Male dancers often wear a jacket, vest, and pants with either soft or hard shoes depending on the kind of dance, while female dancers typically wear a brilliantly colored dress with a full skirt.
