Galway’s newest and most exciting restaurant can be found at the end of the promenade in Salthill. This beautifully refurbished famine-era building boasts unrivalled views of Galway’s most recognisable landmark, the Blackrock diving tower with the backdrop of Galway Bay.
Dining
Blackrock Cottage offers an inexpensive menu of contemporary modern Irish dishes, using only the finest ingredients from land and sea. Breakfast menu highlights include the mouthwatering Classic Local Full Irish of Thick Cut Rashers, McGeough’s Sausages, Smoked Black Pudding, Garlic Home Fries, Organic Eggs and Chunky Sourdough or healthier vegetarian options such as Lemon and Chilli Avocado on Sourdough with Cherry Tomatoes and Smoked Tofu.
Highlights of the lunch menu include Mc Geoughs of Oughterard smoked beef burger and their vegan sesame street poke of Organic brown rice, wakame salad, smoked tofu, Roasted celeriac, lemon courgette and pomegranate.
The décor been created with seating areas that make the most of the wonderful views of Galway Bay while being protected from the elements. Walk-ins are accepted for breakfast and lunch currently, with an evening service planned to start in early 2023.
Takeaway Counter
The Álainn team, who previously managed the pop-up coffee van and subsequent container near the site serving superfood pots and delectable coffee from the Burren roaster Anam Coffee, will run the takeout portion of the café.

Along with the option of evening dining, a barbecue area with capacity for about 60 people is planned, and should the Salthill to Barna Greenway get developed, a bike hire amenity will be added too.
