FAQs about Point Pony Trekking

Can I ride if I have never been on a horse before?

Absolutely. The centre specializes in introductory beach treks where horses are led or kept at a slow walk, ensuring complete safety and comfort for first-time riders.

Is there a weight limit for riders?

Yes, for the welfare of the Connemara ponies, there is generally a weight limit of 14-15 stone (approx 90-95kg). Please provide accurate weights when booking so the staff can select the most appropriate horse.

What happens if it rains?

Rides usually proceed in light rain (this is Connemara, after all!). However, in cases of extreme wind or torrential downpours, the centre may postpone or cancel for safety. It’s always best to bring a waterproof jacket.
