What to expect at the Gaelic Games Experience
Immerse yourself in the history and culture of the worldâs oldest, fastest and what many consider the most skillful field sport. Your activity experience involves a Gaelic Games session at “Liam Mellows,” a local Gaelic club a short drive to the outskirts of Galway city center. The state-of-the-art sports centre and club is conveniently located near public bus route (no. 402).
Gaelic games, as they are referred to in Ireland, are explained at the beginning of each session. This covers the background of the games, their venerated status in Irish culture, and the rules and organisation of the games. You’ll learn learn about the Irish love of GAA sports (Gaelic Athletic Association) and appreciate Irish passion for its sports.
After the interesting introduction, you’ll go outside to the artificial turf where you’ll have the opportunity to play some or all of the GAA sports such as handball, hurling, and Gaelic football.
Your coaches for the session will instill their passion about their favourite sport and with engaging sessions with visitors. Activities are tailored to the numbers in your group, between fun drills or mini-matches, all in good fun.
