Galway to Athlone Greenway (coming soon)

New cycling and walking route to explore South East Galway 🚴

The Athlone to Galway Greenway is a proposed long-distance walking and cycling trail in Ireland. The route will stretch approximately 120 km (75 miles) from Athlone in County Westmeath to Galway City in County Galway. The greenway will follow the route of the former Midland Great Western Railway, which was closed in the 1960s. The trail will pass through picturesque countryside, historic towns, and villages of Galway, and will provide an alternative transportation option for locals and tourists alike. The project is still in the planning phase and the completion date is not yet known.
